Abba Anwar

My name is Abba Habibu Anwar of The Guardian newspaper, I was born in Kano state, Nigeria. Having completed my primary education at Goron Dutse Primary school, I proceeded to Rumfa College, Kano. I graduated from Bayero University, Kano, with BSc. Mass Communication.
After my graduation I also bagged Masters in Development Studies and MSc Mass Communication.

As a professional journalist I worked with many media organisations for over two decades. I am presently freelancing with The Guardian newspaper, Nigeria, as a Senior Correspondent from Kano state.
To also get capacity in good governance, I attended many training programmes in countries like Ghana, United Kingdom, United States of America and many workshops within Nigeria.
Engagement with non-governmental organisations prepared me with so many advocacy campaign strategies both within and outside Nigeria.

After a transition in Kano state college of arts and remidial studies from 2004 to 2006 ,I proceeded to Bayero University kano from 2006 to 2012 were i obtained a B.Agriculture. I then went back to BUK for a master’s degree in 2013 were i enrolled for Msc in Livelihood and Natural resource economics with specialization on drylands under the Center for dryland agriculture.I had the opportunity to carry out several course on gender equality,peace and conflict resolution from USIP,Internet security,android application design,etc.In terms of career,I started development work and civil activism right from the university where I rose from departmental student leader to the overall secretary general of Student Union government. I was the national parliamentary secretary of the National Association of Agriculture. I became the project manager of the students environmental club and roses to the level of the president of the club where I lead the planting of thousands of trees within the campus and lead the replication of the club at various campuses with the country and in Ghana.I became the secretary of advocacy and budget tracking of KANO state youth stake holders forum in 2014 ,M&E officer of Community orientation against communicable diseases (CODEB),senior programs officer with center for young peoples advocacy and community development CYPAC.I later join the center for information technology and development CITAD as a research assistant, and later programs officer (peace projects). I coordinated various peace building projects at national level.I am a founding Member of CYPAC,center for advocacy in gender and social inclusion (CAGSI),digital film base,and CEO of digital development hub .I am skillful in M&E,Community mobilization,programming, and mentoring and facilitation.I am god in Information technology skills such ad mobile App development,remote sensing and GIS,data analysis ,in for graphs and data mining.I am currently carrying out a research on the effect of land degradation on food security among small holder farmers in drylands of Nigeria.I am single,passionate on peace building andimprovement of livelihood.

Charles Adeyemi is a Development Activist, Social Entrepreneur, On-Air Personality (OAP), author and inspirational speaker, committed to good governance and community development efforts.
He is the Founder and President of THE LEADERSHIP FACTORY, a civil society organization which serve as an umbrella network for over twenty affiliate youths and student organizations in Osun state. He is the organizer of LEARNING ANNEX, an empowerment lecture series he organizes to raise new breeds of leaders that will be excellent in character, brilliant in world science and fervent in the spirit.
